Moorbank Service Developments

Moorbank health & Well-being services are happy to announce a new and upcoming development to offer as part of our services.

We have often been asked if we know of any day centers that are running in our local area, and have come to realise that this type of service would be very beneficial for individuals within our local community. We have therefore decided to create and develop a day service for people that need additional support throughout the day.

This service would provide a safe space for people to interact with staff and others in the group, whilst enjoying a range of activities such as:

Listening to music/singing
Daily quizzes
Arts and crafts
Gentle exercise
A variety of games such as playing cards or dominoes
Mini pamper sessions
Day trips (further information to be confirmed prior to each planned event).
This activity list is adaptable to meet individual needs, different activities can be offered dependant on your specific interests and preferences.

Lunch, snacks and refreshments would also be provided throughout the day.

While a variety of activities and services offer individuals companionship and enjoyment, they do vary. This type of service will aim to increase individuals social engagement, help to improve quality of life, offer additional companionship outside of your home, whilst giving care givers the respite and reassurance, that their loved ones are keeping their independence in the community setting. In addition this would allow us to build consistent routines, provide cognitive stimulation, relaxation, fun activities and piece of mind for families involved.

A typical Day might look like this:

Daily Activity timetable

09:30-10:30: Breakfast Bunch

10:30-12:00: Refreshment's & social engagement (Arts & Crafts, Pamper sessions, Etc).

12:00-1:00: Lunch Bunch

1:00-2:00: Relaxation hour

2:00-3:00: Refreshment's & programming session

3:00-4:30: Happy "hour" (games, singing, etc)

4:30: Homeward Bound

Cognitive Stimulation

Activities which stimulate our brains are identified to be a major part when engaging adults in activities. Games with repetitive interaction and pattern recognition can be helpful for people who suffer from memory issues. Games such as scrabble, monopoly and other word related games require people to exercise their mind, and encourage social interaction with others. Card games are also good for cognitive stimulation.

Daily Tasks

We understand the importance of completing daily tasks as part of our routine and well being. For some this may be difficult as we get older to manage these independently. We will therefore aim to involve you or your loved one in these whilst in our care, to try promote and retain certain tasks they may be struggling with, or may not be able to do at home independently. We will, where we can, promote group members to get involved in preparing drinks, serving etc as we see suitable dependant on individual skills and abilities.

During any planned day trips (which would be pre planned), these could include trips to the supermarkets, local park/nature area. These will allow individuals to engage in routine tasks for themselves with the support from our staff in a safe environment.

Fun Activities for Entertainment

Games allow individuals to interact with others whilst stimulating their minds, which in turn is beneficial for individuals mental and physical well being. All activities and games will create interaction between the group members that is to everyone's interest within the group. Some of these would include:

Crosswords, dominoes, bingo, card games, sudoku, jigsaws and reminiscent games.

We may also offer certain video games, as research suggests these types of games promote better hand-eye coordination.

To do this we will have the use of a games console which will build stronger and increased body responsiveness.

Is this something you or a loved one would be interested in attending?

If so we would love to hear your thoughts and views on this.

Please contact us to                                 and expression of interest today along with any suggestions you feel would enhance this type of service. Fees for this services is still under review and will be confirmed at a later date. Thanks for taking the time to read this today and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
